Declaring costs should be easier, European Commission told

The European Commission should “further simplify the rules for declaring personnel costs and large research infrastructure costs” in the EU’s R&D programme, the European Court of Auditors has said.

In addition, it should better inform small businesses about the programme’s rules, and carry out “more targeted checks” of businesses’ cost claims. More broadly, there should be greater consistency in how R&D projects are audited.
