EU research funding scheme does not need major changes, says university group
The EU’s Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions research funding scheme has an “urgent need for increased investments”, according to the Guild of European Research-Intensive Universities. In a position paper published on 7 October, the group said that a budget boost would be the best way to raise the low success rates of applicants.
Budget aside, the guild welcomed the proposed continuity for the scheme in the EU’s 2021-27 R&D programme Horizon Europe. It said the main focus should not be shifted from supporting doctoral and postdoctoral researchers.
