Cut could mean €3 billion less for flagship European Research Council, says MEP Christian Ehler
National governments in the Council of the EU are considering pushing for the EU’s next R&D programme to have a budget that is “at least €12bn” smaller than that proposed by the European Commission, a well-placed MEP has warned.
Speaking in the European Parliament on 12 November, Christian Ehler, one of the MEPs who led on the Horizon Europe legislation, said he learnt of the plans at a meeting with the Commission that morning.
