Agreement brings €302-million boost for Horizon 2020

The budget for the final year of the EU’s Horizon 2020 R&D programme is set to be just under €13.5 billion—8.8 per cent higher than in 2019—under a provisional agreement reached by the European Parliament and European Council on 18 November.

This represents an increase of €302 million on the European Commission’s proposal, and is a compromise between the institutions. The Parliament was looking for a Horizon 2020 budget of €14.2bn, while the Council wanted just €12.8bn.
