Input sought on Horizon Europe’s call plans, assessment and results

The European Commission is seeking views on how it should implement Horizon Europe, the EU’s next R&D programme.

A consultation on how the 2021-27 programme should operate opened on 30 July. The Commission is asking for opinions on aspects including the duration of the work programmes that will set out Horizon Europe’s funding calls, the evaluation of its missions and the parameters of its funding partnerships.

Current thinking in the Commission is that work programmes should continue to last for more than one year, unless calls are opened to meet urgent, unexpected needs, a document accompanying the consultation says. The Commission is also considering specifying the desired technology readiness level of industry-linked projects—a measure of their commercial readiness. It wants feedback on these ideas and others.
