More than 135 museums and science centres have called on the European Commission to give them a part to play in bolstering citizens’ engagement with the EU’s next R&D programme.
The European Network on Science Centres and Museums (Ecsite) wrote to the research commissioner Carlos Moedas earlier this month, complaining that it sees “important gaps in the [citizen] involvement strategy as currently planned” for Horizon Europe.
Ecsite warned Moedas that the EU should not rely on “top-down communication approaches where research and innovation results are ‘delivered’ and ‘explained’ to citizens,” as these “have been proven to fail” in various circumstances.
