University groups want to focus on excellent science, whereas Parliament seeking broader spread
The ‘excellent science’ part of the next EU R&D programme, Horizon Europe, should get all of the €4 billion top-up agreed on for the programme by the European Parliament and Council of the EU, three university groups have said. But their call sets them against MEPs seeking a broader distribution of the money.
The European University Association, the Guild of European Research-Intensive Universities and the League of European Research Universities (Leru) have all called for the extra money agreed on 10 November to go Horizon Europe’s basic research instruments—the European Research Council (ERC) and Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA).
