Ocean research agenda points to health benefits

Project finds potential for recreation, food and medicine

An EU-funded research project has produced a 10-year agenda setting out how oceans R&D could deliver health benefits, outlining questions that need to be answered and how success can be achieved and measured.

The plan, published on 31 March by the Seas, Oceans and Public Health in Europe project, focuses on three main areas: sustainable seafood and healthy people; blue spaces, tourism and well-being; and marine biodiversity, biotechnology and medicine.
