Record number of applications for EU Marie Curie scheme

More than 11,500 researchers apply for share of €328 million funding pot

A record 11,573 project proposals were submitted to the EU’s 2020 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Individual Fellowships research funding scheme, which supports experienced researchers to work abroad.

The European Commission announced the flood of applications on 9 September—the closing day of the call, which had a total budget of €328 million. It said the number of applications was a 17 per cent increase on 2019.
