Georgia, Israel, Moldova, Tunisia and Ukraine begin informal talks, with more countries starting soon
The European Commission has begun informal exploratory talks with Georgia, Israel, Moldova, Tunisia and Ukraine on their planned association to the EU’s 2021-27 R&D programme, Horizon Europe. Similar talks have been scheduled in February with Armenia and the Faroe Islands, the Commission announced on 28 January.
Association to the EU R&D programme enables the fullest possible participation for non-EU member states. Depending on the nature of the EU’s relations with a given associated country, the Commission can make parts of the programme off-limits, such as funding calls considered important for security.
