Huge interest in Marie Curie public engagement call

But Horizon Europe MSCA round faces €15 million gap between requests and available funds

More than 100 applications from 36 countries have been made for funding public engagement events under Horizon Europe’s latest Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions call—but many applicants are likely to be disappointed after the total amount of money requested far exceeded the allocated budget.

As well as offering well-known EU mobility funding, the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions initiative funds public engagement via the annual European Researchers’ Night event. Now run via the MSCA and Citizens call, for 2021 this has an overall budget of €15.5 million and is aimed at projects seeking to raise interest and awareness of the importance of research and innovation among the European general public.
