Universities call for R&D boost ahead of budget vote

MEPs decide next week whether to back €300 million hike for Horizon Europe in 2022

Universities have pleaded for a reversal of budget cuts to the EU’s R&D funding programme ahead of a crunch vote in the European Parliament next week.

At stake are hundreds of millions of euros that could be spent by the Horizon Europe programme in 2022, including money for leading researchers from the European Research Council and for mobility grants via the Marie Curie scheme.
