Horizon Europe gets €723m budget boost for 2021-22

Extra funds largely go towards EU’s R&D missions on climate, cancer, oceans, cities and soil

The EU’s Horizon Europe R&D programme has had a €723 million boost to its budget for 2021-22, largely allocated to the bloc’s five research and innovation-based missions.

The extra funds represent almost a 5 per cent rise from the original Horizon Europe budget of €14.7 billion for 2021-22, bringing it to €15.4bn.
