Research the ‘starting point’ for EU plan to beat cancer

   

Plan includes setting up a Knowledge Centre on Cancer to coordinate relevant science

Research and innovation will form the foundation of an EU plan for beating cancer, according to the European Commission, which wants the plan to be allocated €4 billion from the EU budget, including €2bn from the Horizon Europe R&D programme.

“With new technologies, research and innovation as the starting point, the [Beating] Cancer Plan sets out a new EU approach to cancer prevention, treatment and care,” the Commission said as it presented the plan on 3 February.
