Commission and Parliament representatives agree programme will not meet Europe’s research and innovation goals
The EU’s 2021-27 R&D programme, Horizon Europe, is set to receive its final sign-off in a vote from the European Parliament today, but the politicians most responsible for its development have agreed that it does not go far enough.
Speaking in a debate on the programme a day ahead of the vote, Christian Ehler (pictured), one of the two MEPs who led negotiations on its legislative underpinnings, warned that politicians’ work on European research and innovation is far from over.
