Move to broaden scope of evaluations follows pan-European agreement on research assessment reform
The European Research Council has “found a way” to take societal contributions into account when deciding what research it will fund, its president Maria Leptin told MEPs today.
Since its inception, the prestigious European funding agency has kept an unwavering focus on scientific excellence when evaluating research proposals. But Leptin (pictured) has been leading the ERC’s efforts to respond to an EU-led push to improve research assessment in the sector.
