Two countries would be furthest from EU to ever join bloc’s R&D programme

The European Commission is set to open formal talks with Canada and New Zealand about the two countries associating to the bloc’s Horizon Europe R&D programme.

A deputy director general of the Commission’s research and innovation department, Signe Ratso, tweeted on 21 April that exploratory talks with the two countries had concluded, “opening way for formal association negotiations to take place in 2022”.
