Senior UK researchers consider moving abroad for ERC grants

           

At least 10 of 45 new winners of ERC Advanced Grants are considering leaving UK

Leading researchers are facing tough choices over whether to stay in the UK or move abroad to accept EU funding, after the European Research Council announced 45 UK-based winners of its prestigious Advanced Grants.

With the UK membership of the EU’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme still up in the air, UK-based winners of ERC awards have until early June to decide whether to move country so they can accept the ERC funding or opt for replacement funding promised by the UK government.
