Trade agreement raises expectations of UK association to EU research and innovation programme

Politicians and academic leaders in the EU are hopeful that the UK will finally gain access to funding from the bloc’s research and innovation programme, following a breakthrough in a long-running dispute over trade.

The newly announced Windsor Framework agreement addresses the previous impasse over trade borders with Northern Ireland, which has stood in the way of the UK’s ‘associate’ membership of Horizon Europe being finalised.
