Cesaer leader warns extending environmental harm principle in Horizon Europe will increase burden on researchers

Plans to change the EU’s financial rules to state that the bloc’s programmes and activities should avoid “doing significant harm” to the environment have alarmed universities.

The European Commission proposed the change last year, saying it was part of a “targeted amendment” to bring about “really necessary” changes to align the EU’s financial rules with its 2021-27 budget framework.
