Senior Commission official pushes for Japan to join Horizon Europe programme to bolster geopolitical alliance

One of the European Commission’s top officials for research and innovation has said the EU wants its partnership with Japan to go “to the next level” as part of a move to close ranks with allies.

Signe Ratso (pictured), deputy director-general at the Commission’s R&I directorate, was speaking alongside Japanese officials at an event on international research cooperation held at the European Parliament in Brussels on 24 May.
