Yerun warns against planned funding instrument bolstering existing EU support

A planned EU “excellence funding” scheme for universities should support new collaborations rather than bolstering existing support for high-quality research, a group of universities has said.

As previously reported by Research Professional News, a European Commission official has said the European Excellence Initiative will be a “toolbox of measures” for raising research and innovation standards. The Commission intends to pilot a “competition-based programme co-fund approach for integrated networks of universities”.
