R&D group demands expansion after revelation that most high-quality proposals go unfunded

The EU’s research and innovation funding programme should be given twice as much money after revelations around how many high-quality proposals are going unfunded, a group of leading research organisations has urged.

Science Europe said the €95.5 billion budget for the bloc’s 2021-27 Horizon Europe iteration of its long-running R&I Framework Programme should be upped to over €190bn for the next version, which is due to start in 2028.
