Joint Research Centre finds certain regions are dependent on EU research and innovation funding
EU funding has been driving a substantial portion of total research and innovation spending across regions of eastern Europe and the Mediterranean, a report has emphasised.
The European Commission’s Joint Research Centre, which provides evidence to support policy, said on 9 August that the EU’s dedicated R&I funding programme and its regional cohesion funding “play a crucial role in supporting R&I activities in most regions of eastern Europe as well as in many Mediterranean regions”.
