Commission says use of funding method under Horizon Europe has reduced administrative burden

The research sector has indicated it is “very satisfied” with the EU’s broader use of lump-sum funding, the European Commission has concluded from a survey.

Under the funding mode, applicants are asked for more detail about their research plans in advance and beneficiaries are then handed money when they reach agreed milestones. In exchange, they are not required to provide as much evidence of their spending, with the objective being to reduce the overall administrative burden.
