EMBO unveils preprint peer review platform

Service will offer peer review for academic papers before they are submitted to a journal

The European Molecular Biology Organisation has announced the launch of a platform for peer reviewing life-science papers before they have been submitted to an academic journal for publication.

EMBO unveiled its plans for the Review Commons service on 30 September. It intends to launch the platform in December together with ASAPbio, a United States not-for-profit that promotes the use of preprints. These are papers published before they have been peer reviewed and accepted by a journal.
