Deal ‘facilitates a cost-neutral transition to open access’, signatories say
Hungary’s national academic information agency has signed a three-year agreement with the publisher Elsevier, granting a consortium of 44 research institutions access to the company’s portfolio of journals and centralising their payment of open-access publication fees.
The agreement provides access to the content of more than 2,500 Elsevier journals. It also enables researchers at the institutions to publish with open access in Elsevier journals at no individual cost to themselves and no additional cost to the consortium overall as compared with existing subscription arrangements, according to a joint press release published on 31 October.
