Group insists cost increases can be avoided both overall and for institutions
The appointed ‘champion’ of the funders signed up to Plan S has insisted the open-access initiative will not increase publishing costs, despite criticism from otherwise supportive research libraries.
Plan S requires researchers to make their work openly available immediately via approved outlets from 2021. Until the end of 2024, this can include ‘hybrid’ journals, but only if they are transforming to full open access.
