Europe’s particle physics laboratory Cern and the European Space Agency have agreed a plan for joint work on operating in “harsh radiation environments”.

Such environments are found both in space and in particle-physics experiments and accelerators, Cern said in an announcement on 26 July.

The agreement, signed earlier in the month, covers collaboration on seven high-priority projects in areas such as radiation detection and simulation of radiation effects.
