The group of funders behind the open-access initiative Plan S has procured a team for a project to help publishers communicate the prices of their services more clearly.

The project, which will run from September to December, will develop a framework for such communications, the Coalition S group of funders announced on 5 September. It will not explore publishers’ actual costs or prices.

The consultancy Information Power has been tasked with leading the project, in collaboration with publishers, funders and universities. A steering group will provide advice and support. It includes representatives of the publishers Hindawi and Springer Nature, as well as Coalition S members UK Research and Innovation, the Austrian Science Fund and the Wellcome Trust.
