Reusable craft will offer microgravity service to researchers from 2023

The European Space Agency has signed deals with four Italian companies to build parts for its Space Rider programme, which will offer researchers use of a robotic lab for experimentation in low-Earth orbit.

Esa signed contracts with two pairs of Italian companies on 9 December. The first, with Thales Alenia Space Italy and Avio, is for work on orbital and re-entry craft. The second, with Telespazio and Altec, is for ground facilities to support missions.
