Europe’s research infrastructure array needs work, advisers say

Esfri calls for better coordination of and broader access to research infrastructures

The body that advises European policymakers on how they should allocate funding for research infrastructures wants better coordinated support for such facilities, ranging from high-powered electromagnetic probes to loose federations of distributed data hubs.

In a white paper published on 27 April, the European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures called on the European Commission and EU member states to “strengthen the interplay and synergies between the European, national and regional funding to research infrastructures [and] to further integrate research infrastructures in the diverse national research and innovation systems”.
