Agreement hailed as a ‘breakthrough’ for open science

Dutch research organisations have concluded a “breakthrough” €80.5 million, 4.5-year national deal with the company Elsevier, covering publishing, reading and data analysis services.

The VSNU association of Dutch universities, the Netherlands Federation of University Medical Centres and the NWO national research council announced on 19 May that the deal meant 95 per cent of Dutch articles published in Elsevier journals could be published with immediate open access.
