European academies launch open-science taskforce

Group set up to help shape EU publishing platform and offer policy input

Allea, an umbrella body for European learned academies, has set up a taskforce on open science as part of its role in developing Open Research Europe, an open-access publishing platform for recipients of EU R&D funding.

The taskforce, announced on 23 June, will also feed into other European open-science initiatives, with a focus on those related to the reform of the European Research Area—an initiative to enable researchers and knowledge to move freely in Europe.
