Board of EU data-sharing platform slams its governance setup

Lack of coordination hampered projects for European Open Science Cloud, its executive board says

The executive board of the European Open Science Cloud—an EU-backed online platform being developed to enable the sharing and analysis of research data—has slammed the way the platform’s governance was set up, saying it caused confusion and harmed projects.

Convened in November 2018, the executive board was tasked with overseeing the implementation of the EOSC and providing advice on the way forward, including strategy and funding, alongside a governance board of representatives of EU member states chaired by the European Commission. But in a final report for the Commission published on 8 January, the executive board was scathing about the conditions under which it worked.
