Science-for-policy unit will advise the Commission and others, and assess satellite R&D needs
The European Commission has set up a team to improve policymakers’ use of Earth-observation data, in particular from the EU’s Copernicus programme, and to analyse research needs in the field.
The Knowledge Centre on Earth Observation, which launched on 20 April, is intended to support the Commission’s political priorities for greater digitisation and environmental sustainability within policy areas such as agriculture and international cooperation.
