Cern reaffirms commitment to open science with new framework

Policy framework says researchers must make papers, data and software publicly available

Europe’s organisation for nuclear research, Cern, has published a new policy framework for implementing open science—research whose processes and outputs are made publicly available for scrutiny and reuse.

The framework, published on 1 October, follows a commitment made by Cern Council members in 2020 to transition the organisation to full and immediate open-access publishing models.
