Agency appoints Carole Mundell, president of the UK Science Council, as new science director

The European Space Agency is planning to increase the size of its staff and science budget, following a meeting of its governing body.

At a press conference to discuss the meeting results on 15 December, Esa director general Josef Aschbacher said the agency’s governing council had given the go-ahead to hire 200 new staff.
