Academies group urges action against predatory publishing

         

Researchers increasingly affected by growth of bogus journals, warns European federation Allea

European learned academies have called for research organisations to take more action against predatory publishing, warning that the problem continues to grow.

Predatory journals, and their publishers, have been defined as those that prioritise profit at the expense of scholarship; they are characterised by factors including provision of false or misleading information, a lack of transparency and the use of aggressive solicitation practices.
