EU launches prototype of cancer imaging platform

Image-sharing infrastructure to be used by researchers, innovators and doctors

The EU has launched a prototype of its planned platform for sharing images of cancer, which is intended to be used by researchers, innovators and healthcare practitioners to improve care related to the disease.

Launched on 29 September using €18 million of EU funding, the Cancer Image Platform currently provides access to 36 datasets of more than 200,000 images for nine cancer types, according to the European Commission.
