European astronomy group sets out infrastructure priorities

Astronet report calls for investment in data processing and analysis alongside new instruments

Recommendations for investments in astronomy infrastructure and its outputs have been set out by a group of European funders and other scientific organisations.

“New instrumentation should be accompanied by investments in data processing, analysis and data science to maximise the scientific return as soon as the facilities go online,” Astronet said in a report published late last month.
