Cern issues reminder to researchers on article licences

Authors must not transfer their rights to publishers, Europe’s nuclear research organisation reiterates

Cern, Europe’s nuclear research organisation, has issued a reminder to its researchers that they must use the CC-BY licence when publishing their papers.

Use of this licence means that the papers “can be easily accessed and freely distributed, reused, translated, adapted and built upon, even commercially, as long as proper credit is given to the original authors”, Cern said on 13 August.
