Climate-KIC to work with Tianjin

Climate-KIC, a public-private partnership for climate innovation, has teamed up with the Chinese city of Tianjin to work on a low-carbon city project.

Under a deal signed in Beijing on 21 November, Climate-KIC, founded by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology, will work with China’s fourth-largest city to develop pilot projects for the energy efficiency of buildings and smart city systems.

“Chinese cities are on the frontline in facing the combined challenges of climate change, sustainable development and demographic change. How China urbanises in the coming decades is critical for China and the wider world,” said Climate-KIC CEO Mary Ritter in a statement.
