Cloud technology use by public bodies remains low

The use of national cloud computing by public bodies is at a very early stage in ten EU member states, according to the European Commission.

A report, Analysis of cloud best practices and pilots for the public sector, published on 13 November, looked at use and access to the cloud in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, the United Kingdom.

It found that these states had taken “very different approaches” to the application of cloud technologies, including the types of infrastructure used, relationships with e-government applications and global policies.
