Defence ministers team up on security

European defence ministers have committed to launching joint programmes to address “critical shortfalls” in government satellite communication and cyber defence.

The decision was made at a meeting of the European Defence Agency’s steering board on 19 November, ahead of the European Council meeting of heads of states in December, which will address defence issues.

A statement said the aim would be to improve cooperation between nations and focus on research and innovation, as well as increasing support to industry and small and medium-size businesses.
