Clean tech start-up wins Silicon Valley award

A German start-up company supported by the climate branch of the European Institution of Innovation and Technology has won the Global Ideas Competition.

The company, Efficient City Farming GmbH, has developed a system to cultivate fish and vegetable crops within shipping containers, which can be used to farm in urban areas. It has been supported through the climate Knowledge and Innovation Community of the EIT, at its incubator facilities in Berlin.

The start-up won the award for best idea at the award ceremony in San Jose, California. The global ideas competition is run by the Silicon Valley-based organisation Clean Tech Open, which provides funding and support for start-ups creating environmentally friendly technologies.
