Let’s boost commercialisation, says Lithuanian minister

Lithuania must strengthen its ability to commercialise research and create innovative businesses, Evaldas Gustas, the country's minister of economy, has said.

Speaking at the start of the first Vilnius Innovation Forum, he said the main reasons for the commercialisation gap is an underestimation of the time needed to develop innovative products and difficulties accessing finance. Gustas added that both Lithuania and Europe had to look for new opportunities in research and innovation to ensure that it remains competitive.

“The EU’s intellectual and scientific potential does not always translate into new products and services that can be sold on markets,” he said.
