The Commission has outlined its latest plans to promote Europe as the world leader in renewable energy production.
A communication entitled ‘Energy technologies and innovation’ published on 2 May, sets out a strategy for meeting the EU 2020 objectives in energy, climate, economic and social policy.
The document highlights the need to accelerate innovation in low-carbon technologies and create innovative solutions in renewable energy production. It emphasises the importance of rapidly reducing the costs of green energy and speeding up the introduction of new technologies to the market.
