Commission to map raw materials research

The European Commission has launched an online survey to find out the spread of research projects on raw materials across the EU.

The survey, launched by the European Innovation Partnership on raw materials on 11 February, is aimed at finding solutions to the problems of fragmentation in the industry and to facilitate further initiatives. The questionnaire, open until 11 March, asks details such as the project’s timing, its partners and funding instruments.

The EIP on raw materials is comprised of representatives of industry, research institutes, governments and non-governmental organisations. It is intended to meet challenges such as extracting materials from deeper levels or under harsh conditions. Its goal is to contribute to a 20 per cent increase in the contribution of the raw materials industry to European GDP by 2020.
