ESA approves biomass satellite

The biomass mission to track the development of tropical forests has received the go-ahead from the European Space Agency.

The satellite is expected to be launched in 2020, and will become the seventh mission in the agency’s earth explorer series, according to a statement on 19 February.

The goal of the mission is to study the state of tropical forests around the world to see how they are being affected by climate change.
